Is your phone or tablet pc running Jelly Bean? Most of people’s answer is negative, because few use the Android 4.1 system. As for Android 4.2, only Google’s direct descendant of products have priorities to use at present. Though Google will speed up the update pace of Android system next year, Android 2.3.x still occupies half of market in Android devices. It is reported by Android Center that Google will roll out the update of Android 4.2.1 OTA, which solves the December Bug.
Status: Android 2.3.x occupying half of market in Android devices
From the above diagram, we can obviously see that users of Android 2.3.x are more than half of the entire column, while 25% Android 4.0 ranked, only 2.7% Android 4.1 Jelly Bean occupied. Now most of the latest flagship phones of major mobile phone manufacturers are equipped with Android 4.1. The majority of the earlier released dual-core phones will eat Jelly Bean in succession, but more single-core phones will stop Android 2.3 or 4.0, missing the upgrade to Android4.1 provide by the official. As for tablets, most of the latest tablets of international companies are running Android 4.0, but like Huawei MediaPad and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 have been updated to Android 4.1, and Asus TF Series will continuously update to Android 4.1. Of course, domestic manufacturers’ latest dual-core and quad-core tablets are generally equipped with Android4.1.
Future: Android 4.2 will soon launch
Android 4.1 system is short-lived. Google released the first tablet Nexus 7 at Google I/O Developer Conference in June this year, meanwhile, launched the Android 4.1 operating system.
After a lapse of four months, Google rolled out new Android 4.2 system through its official blog at the end of October. Android 4.2 is basically the same as what’s in the Android 4.1 version of Jelly Bean, has some improvements and upgrades in details. For example, Android 4.2 features Photo Sphere panoramic camera, keyboard gesture input, Miracast wireless sharing, gesture to zoom the screen, as well as voice output and gestures for blind users.
Who is the first equipped with the latest Android system, surely we have to find out the Google’s habit: Google’s own direct descendants are the first to eat, then the major manufacturers flagship models upgrade to the latest system successively. According to foreign media Android Central’s reports, Google will release Android4.2.1OTA update within a few days, fixing the December BUG perfectly. Currently, Google firstly pushes out the Android 4.2.1 update for open sale Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 devices, and then the update priority will be given to other Nexus devices. It is expected the Google Nexus7 and Galaxy Nexus will update to Android 4.2.1 OTA soon
Google is trying to solve the problem of de-fragmented Android operating system. For Low-end devices and unpopular models failing to meet requirements on the configuration, which leading most cell phones to stay in Android2.2 or 2.3, that is the main reasons why Froyo and Gingerbread occupy half of market (There are folk masters updated to the latest systems through the way of brush, but the user experience was not very good. I have a HTC Desire z based on Android 4.1 Rom, tell the truth really bad user experience not as good as the 2.3 to the smooth). In the high-end equipment, various manufacturers have to do a lot of optimization, repair, embodied in the UI etc. From specialty, so this is why Google’s latest operating system is always the direct descendant of the first update of the plant in the end, flagship model after another upgrade! Fortunately, Google is also aware of the importance of a unified Android ecosystem, so also is being gradually introduced the OTA update push mechanism normalization, and to reinforce the dominance of Google Play Applied Ecology, gradually improve the fragmentation problem, and create a more perfect and the tendency towards unity Android ecosystem.
