tried ultra-cheap tabletsaimed at emerging markets, like India’s Aakash
2, and while they’re just barely usable for basic tasks like browsing
the web, they are not the sort of thing most consumers would pay money
for, even in India, where the Aakash 2 is already being superseded by
the much more powerful Aakash 4. (Where the Aakash 3 went is anyone’s
guess.)
Suneet Tuli, CEO of Datawind,
maker of the Aakash 2 tablet, says that the company’s next generation
tablet will sell for around the same price point, or $50, “so there’s no
reason Intel can’t get below $99.”But one reason that China’s and
India’s ultra-cheap tablets cost so little is that the processors inside
them cost as little as $3 to $5, says Tuli. Intel’s newer mobile chips,
on the other hand, can cost as much as $60.
For a manufacturer to create a $99 wholesale android tablets,
where much of the cost is in the touchscreen display, they’re probably
going to have to use an older and cheaper Intel chip, perhaps the same
one to makeMotorola’s Razr i, which came out in October 2012 and was the
first Android smartphone to be powered by an Intel chip.If Intel is
selling $20-$30 microprocessors for cheap tablets, that’s a far cry from
the expensive, high- margin chips on which its business was built. And

Researchers complied the data from the NYTS and found that among middle schoolers, the number of kids who have tried e-cigarettes increased from 1.4 percent to 2.7 percent, and the number of kids who are current users increased from 0.6 percent to 1.1 percent.Use among high school kids is increasing as well. Researchers found that the number of teens who have tried e-cigarettes has increased from 4.7 percent to 10 percent, and the number of current users has increased from 1.2 percent to 2.2 percent.Overall recent use and ego t electronic cigarette experimentation doubled among U.S. middle and high school students during 2011 -2012. Dr. Jonghun Lee, a professor of psychiatry and the study's lead researcher, presented the findings at the American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting this summer.
He stressed that the more smartphones are overused, the greater the risk for severe psychopathologies in adolescents. Those who are dependent on them experience anxiety, insomnia and depression. Some self-aware teens are realizing the toll that checking their smartphones is taking on them. An 18-year old girl told The Wall Street Journal recently, "I hate doing it, but I can't help it... Why did I buy a smartphone? Sometimes I stay up all night using Facebook and Twitter. I quickly became addicted."
A Pew Research Center study found teenage smartphone usage increased 23 percent from 2011 to 2012 and that 37 percent of teenagers owned cell phones for sale last year. Dr. Lee says that the number of adolescents who are addicted will go up, because the popularization of smartphones is an inevitable social trend. On the face of it the Z3000 series addresses some of the criticisms levelled at Clover Trail, primarily it's faster and allows tablets to run for longer off the same battery.Annette Jump, research director in Gartner's worldwide consumer technology and markets team, said: "The biggest issue with Clover Trail was the performance, it was very slow on some of the tablets that vendors had used.Bay Trail SoCs are aimed at tablets and convertible laptop/tablets with screen sizes below priced at $599 or below and will ship in a range of tablets running Windows 8 and Android, ranging down to below $100 in price. lfj4D3ss2
