Prince William and Kate's Royal Weddings, Women' Dream Wedding

The craziness surrounding the royal wedding is finally over. Now let’s look back at who wore what on the big day. From Victoria Beckham’s elegant ensemble to Pippa Middleton’s attention-getting Alexander McQueen, it’s time to check out who wowed and who made us ask ‘why?!’ at the royal wedding. These celebrity dresses provide good suggestions for us when shopping.

Queen Elizabeth II

The betting was on to see whether Queen Elizabeth II would wear blue, as she did to Charles and Diana’s wedding, or yellow—a sunnier new shade. At Westminster Abbey on wedding day, QEII stepped out in a vibrant shade of sunshine, wearing Angela Kelly’s single wool crepe dress and coat paired with a ladylike satchel and pumps.

Princess Letizia of Spain

Princes Letizia of Spain is always muy muy bonita! At the royal wedding, the Spanish monarch stepped out in a blush monochrome look. Letizia wore and elegant sheer-and-lace designer evening dress with floral embroidery accessorized with matching satin pumps and a netted-feathered hat.

Princess Eugenie

While the other guests kept their outfits restrained for the big day, Princess Eugenie opted to have a bit of fun with her look. She opted for a psychedelic-printed jacket paired with a full blue skirt. Of course, it wouldn’t be a royal outfit without a hat and Eugenie further jazzed up her outfit with a matching Peter Pan-like topper with a dramatic rose and feather.

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was a blue, oh so very blue, at the royal wedding. She wore cobalt head to toe, with her dress matching her hat, gloves, shoes and clutch. Either she had the entire look custom-made or had mad luck buying everything off the rack.

Prince Harry

Don’t worry ladies, there’s still one single prince left—and he’s ridiculously handsome! Prince Harry looked absolutely dashing in his formal ensemble. He wore the uniform of the Captain of the Household Cavalry, a navy blue military suit with aiguilettes, cross-belt and gold waist belt.

Prince Victoria

Princess Victoria of Sweden was all smiles in a bright and cheery peach ensemble. She wore the color head to toe with a wrapped jersey dress and wide-brimmed hat.

Elton John

Elton John may have turned down the glam for the big event, but he wasn’t about to be boring for an affair this fabulous. Elton donned a traditional morning coat, but added his own flair with a canary yellow waistcoat and bright purple tie.

Zara Phillips

Royal fashion maven Zara Phillips, aka eldest granddaughter to Queen Elizabeth II, looked chic as ever at the royal wedding in a silver Akris coat. While no royal wedding look would be complete without an over-the-top chapeau, Zara kept it modern with a sleek leopard-print clutch and Mary Jane heels.

We’re looking…Royal Wedding

It’s official-Kate and William are married! What we expected most in this royal wedding is the designer wedding gown. Let’s check what they wear in the big day.

Bridal Gown

Kate wore an ivory and white satin gazar Alexander McQueen ball gown designed by Sarah Burton. Her hair, styled by James Pryce of the Richard Ward Salon, was worn half up. The Cartier “halo” tiara she wore had originally been presented to the Queen on her 18th birthday. Kate’s diamond earrings were by Robinson Pelham and were a gift from her parents.Kate opted to do her own makeup after receiving several private lessons with Arabella Preston, a London makeup artist.

Flower Girls & Pageboys

Kate’s bridal party included Grace van Cutsem (Will’s goddaughter) and Eliza Lopes (Camilla’s granddaughter), both age 3, as well as Lady Louise Windsor (Will’s cousin), 7, and Margarita Armstrong-Jones (Will’s second cousin), 8. All of the young bridesmaids wore custom white satin gazar dresses with pale gold sashes, designed by Nicki MacFarlane. The Prince’s godson, Tom Pettifer, and Billy Lowther-Pinkerton, the son of Will’s secretary, served as pageboys.

Bridesmaid

Kate’s younger sister Pippa served as maid of honor and wore an ivory satin-based crepe gown with a cowl neckline, designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The bridesmaid dress is simple but elegant.

The Bouquet

Kate carried a small, shield-shaped wired bouquet of myrtle, lily-of-the-valley, Sweet William, and hyacinth.

The Kisses

At 1:25 p.m., the newlyweds appeared on the palace balcony to share a public kiss, a tradition begun by Charles and Diana. Royal Air Force planes flew overhead before the couple kissed once more (to the delight of everyone watching!), and then returned inside for a buffet-style wedding breakfast for 600, hosted by the Queen.

The Cake

The official Royal Wedding cake was a multi-tiered traditional fruitcake by British cake designer Fiona Cairns. The cake was decorated with the couple’s new cipher and each tier had a different floral theme. The English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil, and Irish shamrock were all featured, as were Sweet William, lilies of the valley, and acorns (an architectural detail featured in the Picture Gallery where the cake was displayed).

A chocolate biscuit cake was also served. A childhood favorite of Will’s, the cake was made by the McVitie’s biscuit company and contained 35 pounds of chocolate and 1,700 McVitie’s Rich Tea biscuits.
